Hon'ble Prime Minister's Interaction with students on the occasion of Teacher's Day on 04-09-2015

Thought for the Day:
Be a light of your self.

Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kavaratti, Lakshadweep came into existence in 1st April 2003. U.T of Lakshadweep Administration is the sponsoring agency and the Collector Cum Development Commissioner of U.T. of Lakshadweep is the Chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee. The institution has been growing from strength to strength over the last 3 years and promoting sound education.

The loving and dedicated band of school staff, work ceaselessly to provide a conducive atmosphere for the wholesome growth and development of the student community. Co-curricular activities form an integral part of the curriculum and students are encouraged to participate in inter-house and inter-school competitions to exhibit their talents in all spheres. Sports activities are pursued  with great vigor and enthusiasm about LAKSHADWEEP.

Lakshadweep is the tiniest Union Territory in the Indian Peninsula. It can be described as a cluster of idyllic islands lying scattered in the Arabian Sea,200-400 kilometers off Kerala Coast. People from the northern part of Kerala, usually referred to as Malabar, migrated to these islands in the early centuries of the Christian era. They speak the Malayalam language and are classified as Scheduled Tribes. They are Muslims following the Shafi School of Jurisprudence. According to 2001 Census, the population of the islands is 60,595. 72.80 percent of them are literates. Because of their long isolation from the mainland, modernity and the development programmers started reaching the islands only very late. Organized attempts have therefore become essential to take them to the forefront in all spheres of life especially in the field of education, culture, science and technology etc.
